Jin joined the Seiradake lab in August 2021 as a postdoctoral research associate. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms that govern fundamental developmental processes in the brain such as neuronal migration and axonal guidance and targeting. Specifically, Jin aims to study the molecular architecture of neuronal cell surface receptors and adhesion molecules using cryo-electron microscopy. Previously, Jin spent three years in the group of Mingjie Zhang at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in Hong Kong, where he biochemically and structurally characterised several synaptic scaffold proteins. Prior to that, Jin worked in the group of Alessandro Costa at the Francis Crick Institute in London investigating the structure of the eukaryotic replication machine. Jin completed his doctoral training with Rob Klose at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Oxford.
